Word Dungeon is a word-guessing adventure game where you explore procedurally generated dungeons. Each run presents a series of word puzzles across different node types — battles, treasure rooms, shops, and boss fights. Guess words correctly to earn points, collect buffs, and climb the leaderboard.
Tap 'Enter the Dungeon' from the home screen to start a run. You will move through a series of nodes on a dungeon map. At each node you are given a word to guess within a limited number of attempts. Type your guess and submit — correct letters in the right position appear green, correct letters in the wrong position appear yellow, and wrong letters appear gray.
Battle nodes are standard word puzzles. Treasure nodes reward you with bonus points or buffs. Shop nodes let you spend coins on helpful items. Elite nodes are tougher words with higher rewards. Boss nodes appear at the end of a run and feature the hardest words — defeat the boss to complete your run with a score multiplier.
Buffs are power-ups you collect during a dungeon run. The Shield buff protects you from losing a life on a wrong guess. The Hint buff reveals a letter in the word. The Extra Attempt buff gives you an additional guess. The Score Boost buff multiplies the points you earn on the next word. Buffs are single-use and activate automatically or when you choose to use them.
Your weekly score is the total of all points earned across your dungeon runs during the current week (Monday to Sunday). At the end of each week, scores reset and the previous week's standings are saved to the 'Last Week' tab. There is also an 'All Time' leaderboard that tracks your single best run score ever.
Your score for each word depends on how quickly you guess it (fewer attempts = more points), the difficulty level of the word, and the node type multiplier. Boss defeats and perfect runs (no wrong guesses in the entire run) grant significant bonus multipliers. Buffs like Score Boost can further increase your points.
A perfect run means you completed every word in the dungeon without making a single incorrect guess. Perfect runs receive a special score multiplier that significantly boosts your total score. They are rare and highly rewarded on the leaderboard.
Yes, Word Dungeon is completely free to play. You can optionally support the game through donations, which unlock a Supporter badge shown next to your name on the leaderboard. Supporter status does not affect gameplay or give any competitive advantage.
You can play dungeon runs as a guest without creating an account. However, to appear on the leaderboard, save your progress across devices, and access your run history, you need to sign up with an email address. You can convert a guest account to a full account at any time without losing your data.
Go to your Profile tab and tap on your display name to edit it. Your new name will appear on the leaderboard and is visible to other players. Display names must be appropriate — offensive names may be reset.
